Azure DP-900

I was able to take the DP-900 Microsoft certification exam today. This is how I passed it, but of course, it will be different for everyone.

It did take a few weeks before I received the exam results, but I was delighted to see that I passed the DP-900 exam. I know what you are thinking, is the DP-900 like the other fundamental certifications?

DP-900 did require me to understand the basics like the other fundamental certs, but I really can’t stress enough that you will need to study for this one. You shouldn’t have to spend 1-2 months like the other certification, but you should spend 1-2 weeks. Let’s jump into it!

First we need to understand what we will be measured on:

  • Describe core data concepts (15-20%)
  • Describe how to work with relational data on Azure (25-30%)
  • Describe how to work with non-relational data on Azure (25-30%)
  • Describe an analytics workload on Azure (25-30%)

You can find more information on the learn website.

Microsoft Learn SC-900 Certification resources

When I took the exam, I already understood the data aspects, but it didn’t stop me from going to what I think is the best free learning platform, Microsoft Learn. Here are some relevant Microsoft Learn modules and learning paths for the DP-900: Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals.

Free Azure Account

I also highly recommend that you create a free Azure account to try out the Azure services and get familiar with the Azure platform. If you already created one before, simply create another one with a different email account, just remember two major things. Delete resources when you are done using them and configure budget alerts.

Create a free Azure Account

If you don’t have an Azure account yet, you can sign up today for your free Azure account and receive 12 months of free popular services, $200 free credit, and 25+ always free services.
